Aeroccino 3 vs 4: What Is The Difference?

If you’re in the market for an espresso maker, you’ve likely heard about Nespresso and its line of Aeroccino products. The Aeroccino 3 and Aeroccino 4 are two different models of the same product, so how do you know which one to buy? Here, we compare the features of each Aeroccino model in detail to help you decide.

Aerocinnos are kitchen appliances designed to heat milk. They come in three different models, the Aeroccino 4, the Aeroccino 3, and the Aeroccino 2. There are some key differences between these models that you should know before making your purchase decision. The price for each model also differs. I’ll start with what features each machine has so you can decide which one is best for your needs.

-The Aeroccino 4 is a Nespresso-compatible frother that comes in at $99. It heats milk to a temperature of 190 degrees Fahrenheit and will steam it if desired, but does not have a reservoir for storing it. All of the other models do.

The Aeroccino4  can be used with many other types of machines including traditional espresso makers and stovetops. You need an adapter kit, though, to make this work as they don’t come included. If you want this type of versatility but don’t need Nespresso compatibility, go with the Aeroccino 4 instead.

The Aeroccino 3 and 4 are popular appliances in the Nespresso community, but what is the difference between frothing and steaming milk? Steamers heat your milk while frothers will blend cold or hot milk into a light foam.

Some people say that frother milk is better to use on coffee, while others think that the foam of a steamed machine like the Aeroccino 4 yields better results. If you have not yet purchased one of these appliances, it might be a good idea to do some research on which one will best suit your needs.

Both models offer hot and cold frothing capabilities, which means you can create hot foam for your espresso drink or hot chocolate and cold milk foam for iced coffee.

Cow milk works best, but reduced fat and whole milk will give different textures (plant-based and alternative milk are not recommended).

The Aeroccino 3 is the most popular model, selling over 1 million units. It has a very simple design and does not have as many features as the Aeroccino 4. If you’re looking for a basic frother that only does one task, this is your best bet. However, if you want to steam milk or make iced coffees with the same machine, it might be worth considering an upgrade.

The Aeroccino 4 has more features than the other two models; it can both froth and steam milk (with the option to adjust temperature) and it will also automatically switch off after 30 seconds of inactivity. If you want to make both hot and cold drinks with ease then this is your best choice.

We’ll start with a side-by-side comparison of each machine and some of its key features. These comparisons will give you an idea of what to expect from each machine. We’ll also include links to full reviews if you want more in-depth information. If you have time, we highly recommend reading our full review of both machines, especially if you plan on using these machines often. These reviews discuss how they work and what you can use them for.

Nespresso is committed to producing a superior product every time. Their unique capsule system ensures consistent flavor from one capsule to another, and their machines are engineered with multiple sensors to make sure that every drink tastes just as good as it should. While Nespresso offers traditional espresso-based drinks like lattes and cappuccinos, they’re also in a class of their own when it comes to specialty coffee drinks.

Compared to the more sophisticated Nespresso Aeroccino 4, the Aeroccino 3 is a more basic option. With its reliable design and low cost, the Aeroccino 3 makes up for its plastic housing shortcomings.

The Nespresso Aeroccino 3 is an excellent milk frother for creating countless milk-based coffee recipes on its own.

A Nespresso capsule espresso machine’s speed allows you to enjoy your espresso drink quickly since the airy froth is usually created in just over 70 seconds.

Users who don’t want to learn complicated gadgets will love the single-button design.

The Aeroccino 3 is less expensive and still offers excellent value considering that it creates premium, cafe-quality foam.

One of the biggest disappointments of this model is that it cannot be dishwasher-safe, which is quite a letdown. You must hand wash this frother after every use.

Pouring your foam with this frother can be a little clumsy, which can be a letdown for latte art lovers.

Although the Aeroccino 3 isn’t as sophisticated as the Aeroccino 4, it’s still a quality model that’s capable of getting the job done. Despite some differences, if you’re willing to sacrifice a few nice design features, you can still get yourself a great little machine at a better price.

As you can see, there are plenty of additional features and design elements that, in the long run, make this model far superior to the Aeroccino 3. Choose your ideal milk frother based on whether you need more hot milk froth settings, a pour spout, or dishwasher safety.

With the pour spout, this Aeroccino 4 is a huge step forward in terms of safety (and latte art)!

Aeroccino 4 offers more froth options than Aeroccino 3, giving you greater control over the finished product.

Like the Aeroccino 3, it has a ceramic coating, but it wears out less quickly, meaning your machine will last longer.

Dishwasher safe, which is great for daily users who don’t want to handwash their frothers every time they use them.

Given the additions, it’s understandable that the price tag for the Aeroccino 4 is higher than the price for the Aeroccino 3. While the former’s expense might be prohibitive to some users, others will likely feel it’s a worthwhile upgrade.

For the design, included features, and dishwasher-safe capacity, the Nespresso Aeroccino 4 seems like the better option to many buyers.

Both models provide quality milk frothers for heating and frothing milk and coffee creamer.

The Nespresso Aeroccino 4 blows out the Aeroccino 3 when it comes to added features and settings (for example, additional hot froth settings).

For some users, however, the extra settings are not necessary and they simply need a milk frother that gives them frothy milk foam without going through any hassles. Those users should consider the Aeroccino 3, and even more so at a lower cost.

For many users, having a milk frother that is both simple to maintain and easy to clean is a non-negotiable detail. The best option should thus be the Nespresso Aeroccino 4, right?

It’s dishwasher-safe and not just the Aeroccino 3, so a lot of people prefer to not have to wash their frother by hand every time they want to use it.

On the other hand, some may not have dishwashers or prefer to use them sparingly, in which case the choice comes down to personal preference.

Final Verdict

Compared to the previous model, the Nespresso Aeroccino 4 is a step up, but only if you value those additional features. With features like hot foam settings and a quality chrome finish, this model feels much more premium than the Aeroccino 3.

The simpler and more affordable Nespresso Aeroccino 3, with its streamlined, one-button system and no-frills operation, may still be preferred by some users. If you aren’t interested in the extra features, you should save your money and drink more coffee instead!

It doesn’t matter which frother you choose, you’re sure to have a quality frother that will enhance your espresso drinks!

Does the Aeroccino 3 steam milk?

The Aeroccino 3 cannot steam milk and is thus unable to produce a latte or cappuccino. However, it does make a great hot chocolate (or cocoa) due to its heating element. The Aeroccino 4 includes a steaming capability, so it can make lattes, cappuccinos, and hot chocolates. If you’re looking for an Aeroccino latte or cappuccino maker, the best option would be the Aeroccino 5 because it can both heat and froth milk at the same time.

Does Aeroccino 4 Heat milk?

The Aeroccino 4 heats milk to a temperature of 140°F, which is the perfect temperature for steamed milk that is used in coffee drinks such as lattes and cappuccinos. However, if you prefer milk that is heated to 160°F or higher then the Aeroccino 3 might be a better choice for you.

Which is the best Nespresso frother?

The Aeroccino 3 is significantly less expensive than the Aeroccino 4 and it has a better pump. There are some downsides, however. For instance, the Aeroccino 3 doesn’t have an adjustable lever for steaming milk, which can make it difficult to get that perfect consistency. It also does not have an automatic shut-off function like the Aeroccino 4 does.

On the other hand, there are some upsides to the Aeroccino 3 as well. For one thing, it’s significantly less expensive than the Aeroccino 4 and it has a better pump – although you will need to purchase a separate jug attachment if you want to froth your milk without heating it first.
